COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo women's golfer Lisa Ekberg has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
Ekberg earns the weekly honor after leading the ThunderWolves at the MIAA Preview earlier this week at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas.
The veteran paced the Pack throughout the two-day event, carding matching rounds of 1-over-par 73 to finish the tournament with a 4-over-par 146. Ekberg was CSU Pueblo's top individual finisher and provided consistency throughout both rounds against a strong field at the Newman University-hosted event.
Ekberg opened the tournament with a 73 in Monday's first round, including a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine, before closing the week with another 73 during Tuesday's final round.
Behind Ekberg's performance, the ThunderWolves finished 11th in the 15-team field with a team score of 26-over-par 594.
The weekly honor adds to a strong start to the fall campaign for Ekberg and the ThunderWolves, who continue to establish themselves among the top programs in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
CSU Pueblo will return to action Sept. 28-29 when the Pack makes the trip to the Texas Panhandle for the West Texas A&M Invitational at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
