Skyhawks claw past ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 9, 2015) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision Friday versus Fort Lewis College.

Opening the game the ThunderWolves pressured the ball and set the intensity level on high, firing three shots at the net in the first ten minutes of play.

Despite the fast start, the teams battled to a scoreless tie after the first period.

CSU-Pueblo had opportunities at goal, leading in shots 7-4 through the first half while holding a 4-3 corner kick advantage.

Fort Lewis scored the first goal of the game in the 55th minute to lead 1-0.

The Skyhawks added a second goal in the 77th minute on a score by Yannis Becker.

The Pack cut the lead in half in the 88th minute with a goal by Mackenzie Paquette (Jr., D, Phoenix, Ariz.), his first of the season.

The ThunderWolves ended the game with a 13-12 shot advantage and 6-4 lead in corner kick attempts.

Four Pack players recorded two shots in the contest. Dycus Kelly (Fr., D, Laramie, Wyo.) played effective minutes for the Pack off the bench.

Pack goalkeeper Sam Haseltine (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) made two saves on twelve shots by FLC.

CSU-Pueblo (5-6-0, 1-4-0 RMAC) remains home Sunday and host Adams State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. following the women's game at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium.
