AMARILLO, Texas (La Paloma Golf Course) – Leina Kim (Saipan, CNMI) concluded the fall season on high note, Tuesday, capturing the title at the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Invitational in Amarillo, Texas. As a team, Colorado State University-Pueblo posted a sixth-place finish after carding a 36-hole score of 636.
Kim finished the two-day tournament with an overall score of even-par 142. The junior tied atop the leaderboard with Newman University's Courtney Zietsman, before garnering the first-place trophy after outlasting Zietsman on the third playoff hole. Kim concludes the fall schedule with titles in four of the ThunderWolves' five tournaments.
The Pack's sixth-place finish is their highest placing since ranking third at the RMAC #1 Tournament on Sept. 15-16. CSU-Pueblo recorded a score of 319 on day two to finish 46 shots overall behind tournament champion Newman.
Julie Sanchez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) continued her consistent play, carding her second score of 74 in as many days to place in a tie for sixth with an overall score of 148. It is Sanchez's fourth top-five finish of the season. Danielle DuPont (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) matched her day one score with a second-round mark of 87, placing in a tie for 49th. Natasha Navarro (So., San Antonio, Texas) improved on her day-one score by nine strokes to finish with a 36-hole score of 175, which landed her in a tie for 51st. Samantha Geisick (Fr., Greely, Colo.) rounded out play for the Pack, placing 59th with a final tally of 179.
