ThunderWolves avenge loss to tourney host CSUMB with win over William Jessup.

SEASIDE, Calif. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 4, 2010) - The Pack missed out on a chance to start the season 3-0, but were able to nab two out of three at the Cal State-Monterey Bay Classic Saturday, scoring a four-set win over William Jessup after losing in four to tourney host, CSUMB.

The Pack rebounded from a four-set loss to CSUMB where unforced errors kept the Pack from taking a very winnable match.  Unable to overcome a combined 41 service and attack errors, CSU-Pueblo lost 20-25, 25-23, 15-25 and 22-25.

But the ThunderWolves responded with one of its best all-around matches in a long time in claiming a four-set victory over William Jessup to close out the Classic.  CSU-Pueblo turned in a team attack percentage of .300, its highest team mark since 2006, and also registered 12 aces, also its highest since 2006.

Leading the charge against WJU was Ashley Wilkinson (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.).  Wilkinson turned in career-highs of kills (15) and attack percentage (.650).  Her .650 attack percentage was nearly a school record, just a smidge behind the four-set mark of .652 set by Sarah Lusk in 2002.  She even contributed a career-high four aces, just for good measure.

At 2-1, the ThunderWolves will focus on next weekend's slate of non-conference matches with two against Dixie State and non-conference tussle with Western State in Gunnison.
