Pack extends its scoreless streak, shifts focus to
Sunday's tangle with defending national champ, Fort
Lewis
ALAMOSA, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 17,
2010) - The Pack built upon its impressive win Wednesday
over Montana State-Billings with a great effort Friday, downing
RMAC foe Adams State 1-0 in the RMAC opener for both squads.
The ThunderWolves were the beneficiary of a great goal in the
29th minute, as Drew Yocum (So., Fort Collins,
Colo.) played a ball right to the foot of Sean Fitzgerald (Jr., Fort Collins, Colo.), who fed the ball
beautifully to Robert Kinsey (Jr., Denver, Colo.),
who headed in the eventual game winner.
It was part of a first half in which the Pack was dominant,
outshooting Adams State 11-6 and allowing only one shot on goal in
the half.
"It was a great way to start RMAC play and it's good to keep
getting positive results on the soccer field," Pack coach Roy
Stanley said. "This was a win that was attributed immensely
to our chemistry and work rate, which was really evident on that
pretty goal."
Though Stanley said the Pack let off a bit in the second half,
the team's focus is to shrug off the lackluster effort in the
second half and set their sights on defending national champ, Fort
Lewis, who hosts the ThunderWolves in Durango Sunday in what will
be the team's third game in a seven-day, four game swing.
"I think exhaustion is getting to us a bit and that showed in
the second half," Stanley said. "But we're try to not let
that get to us and keep our focus and work rate high during a busy
week."
After Fort Lewis on Sunday, CSU-Pueblo will travel to
UC-Colorado Springs Wednesday in a "Steel and Silver Series"
showdown.
