Tough team stymies the Pack, but progress made, says coach Stanley.

WICHITA FALLS, Tex. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 10, 2010) - Beating the third-ranked team in the nation is a tall order for any team, let alone a freshman-rich squad like the ThunderWolves' men's soccer team.  But despite falling 4-0 to Midwestern State Friday, the team showed stark improvements.

The stat line wasn't pretty - The Pack was out-shot 32-1 and the 4-0 score was painful, but in facing the ThunderWolves' second-straight top-25 team (CSU-Pueblo opened against #25 Cal. State-San Bernardino last weekend), the young team gained confidence, head coach Roy Stanley said.

"I feel we improved in our mentality and confidence, our work rate and our ability to possess the ball," Stanley said.  "Compared to last weekend, I feel the difference was like night and day and we had a lot we improved upon.  We still didn't get the result we want by any means, but we are going in the right direction."

The team has Sunday targeted for its first win, as it takes on its first non-top-25 team in Northeastern State (Okla.), who took down RMAC foe, UC-Colorado Springs, 3-2 Friday.
