Pack learns lessons from top-ranked Mines

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 8, 2010) - Behind a four goal second half, the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves were defeated by #1 Colorado School of Mines Friday.

The Pack wasn't able to control much of the game but goalkeeper Jacob Blum (Jr., Peoria, Ariz.) stood tall in net making quality saves throughout the game.

"Blum saw a lot of action but he did an admirable job," coach Roy Stanley said. "We have to give him a lot of credit for some quality saves he had throughout the game."

Although the score didn't fall in favor of the ThunderWolves, a strong first half by the Pack gave a glimpse of the future. The game also proved to be a good learning experience for the young ThunderWolves.

"We don't walk away from this game broken; we're going to take a constructive approach to improve," Stanley said.

The Pack will continue their two game road stand as they head to Colorado Christian, Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. game. The ThunderWolves defeated Colorado Christian earlier this season at home in a 6-0 rout.

The Steel and Silver rivalry series against UCCS will be revisited Wednesday with a home doubleheader, beginning with the women scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. The men's soccer team is scheduled to kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
