PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo advanced one spot in each of this week's latest AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, presented by GoRout Gridiron and D2Football.com Media Poll that were released Monday morning.
In this season's fifth weekly national Division II polls, the ThunderWolves, who are 5-0 after picking up a 35-23 home win on Saturday over Colorado Mesa, are ranked No. 4 and No. 6 respectively by the AFCA and D2Football.com.
The Pack received 654 points in this week's AFCA Coaches' Poll to sit 53 points behind No. 3 Kutztown (4-0), who received 707 points after earning a 28-18 win over Shepherd this past Saturday and five points in front of No. 5 Minnesota State (5-0), who fell one spot to No. 5 after earning a 28-14 win on Saturday over Sioux Falls. In the D2Football.com poll, the Pack jumped one spot to No. 6 and is just behind No. 5 Grand Valley State (4-0) and in front of No. 7 Western Colorado (5-0), who improved to 3-0 in RMAC play with a 70-21 win this past Saturday at home against Adams State. In the preseason polls, the Pack was ranked sixth in the AFCA poll and 10th in the D2Football.com poll.
CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado are the only two RMAC schools ranked in this week's latest national polls as Western Colorado is ranked No. 7 in both the AFCA and D2Football.com polls. Additionally, one of the Pack's previous opponents – Central Missouri (3-1) earned 19 votes in the latest AFCA poll and is ranked 21st in the D2Football.com poll.
The top three teams remained the same in both the AFCA and D2Football.com polls as Ferris State (4-0) and Harding (4-0) are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in both polls. In addition to Ferris State and Harding, the AFCA has Kutztown (Pa.) (4-0) at No. 3, CSU Pueblo at No. 4 and Minnesota State at No. 5, while D2Football.com has Minnesota State at No. 3, Kutztown at No. 4 and Grand Valley State at No. 5.
CSU Pueblo will look to stay undefeated on the season this coming Saturday, Oct. 3 as the ThunderWolves travel to Alamosa, Colo., for a 12 p.m. game against Adams State. The Pack enters the game having won 14 straight regular season games dating to last season's 36-35 home setback to Fort Hays State, 28 consecutive conference games dating to the 2023 season, which is the longest active conference win streak in Division II football and 18 consecutive road games, which is also the longest active road win streak in Division II football.
