INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Heading into the final week of the 2026 football regular season, Colorado State University Pueblo football remains ranked No. 5 overall and No. 2 in Super Region Four in the fourth rankings released Sunday morning that will determine playoff selections.
The ThunderWolves, who are 10-0 overall and 8-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference following its 31-0 road win Saturday against South Dakota Mines, are the highest-ranked team in the RMAC in this season's fourth NPI rankings. Western Colorado (10-0, 8-0 RMAC), which the Pack hosts Saturday at the ThunderBowl to determine the regular season RMAC Champion and automatic qualifier into the NCAA Playoffs, is the only other RMAC school ranked in the Top 10 of Super Region Four, as the Mountaineers are No. 3 in the super region and No. 8 nationally in this week's latest NPI rankings of the 2026 season.
Overall, CSU Pueblo is ranked fifth nationally in the fourth NPI rankings, as Ferris State (10-0) from Super Region Three is the top-ranked team nationally in the NPI with a 70.999 NPI, while Slippery Rock (10-0) from Super Region One is No. 2 with a 69.007 NPI and Harding (10-0) from Super Region Four is No. 3 with a 67.461 NPI. Northwood (10-0) from Super Region Three is No. 4 with a 65.939 NPI
In the latest NPI Super Region Four rankings, the Pack's NPI is 64.297, ranking second behind Harding at No. 1 with a 67.461 NPI. Western Colorado jumps two spots to No. 3 as the Mountaineers have an NPI of 62.837 after picking up a 41-20 win on Saturday at home against Colorado School of Mines, while Northwest Missouri State (8-1) falls one spot to No. 4 with an NPI of 62.775 and Central Washington (8-1), who is the automatic qualifier from the Lone Star Conference, jumps one spot to No. 5 with an NPI of 62.002.
The final five of the third Super Region Four NPI begins with Emporia State (8-2) as they tumble two spots to No. 6 with an NPI of 60.544 after a 20-19 loss on Saturday to Washburn, while Washburn (7-2-1) climbs two spots to No. 7 with an NPI of 58.859 and Midwestern State (8-2) jumps two spots to No. 8 with an NPI of 58.408 following a 49-34 win on Saturday over UT-Permian Basin. Southeastern Oklahoma State (8-2) falls one spot to No. 9 with an NPI of 58.106 following a 30-27 win on Saturday against Southern Arkansas, and Ouachita Baptist (8-2) moves into the rankings at No. 10 following its 31-14 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The NCAA Power Index is the formula Division II now uses to select and seed the playoff field. In football, it blends winning percentage (25 percent) with strength of schedule (75 percent), measured by opponents' own NPI. Road wins and home losses count a bit more (1.05 vs. 0.95), and wins over teams rated above 52.0 earn a quality-win bonus. Only games against Division II opponents count.
The top eight teams will earn selection into the 2026 NCAA Division II Playoffs. Conference champions from the MIAA (Northwest Missouri State), GAC (Harding), Lone Star (Central Washington), and RMAC will receive automatic bids. The final NPI rankings will determine the final four slots after the November 14 games.
