FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Colorado State University Pueblo opened competition at one of the nation's most prestigious indoor meets on Friday, as the Pack completed Day One of the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
The ThunderWolves delivered a standout performance on the track, highlighted by a historic run from Jon Sweepe in the men's 3,000 meters. Sweepe turned in a time of 7:51.70, setting a new school record and etching his name into the CSU Pueblo record books against a nationally elite field.
Day one also featured strong showings across the middle-distance events for the Pack. Tim Anstett recorded a personal-best time of 1:47.99 in the men's 800 meters, while Caleb McLeod followed closely with a season-best 1:49.48 as both ThunderWolves competed among a deep and competitive field. In the men's 3,000 meters, Kameron Eustace added a personal-best performance of 8:17.49, while Caden Schweer posted a lifetime best of 8:21.30, continuing the Pack's success in distance events.
On the women's side, Charlotte Young represented CSU Pueblo in the 800 meters, finishing with a personal-best time of 2:06.68 against top-tier Division I and national competition. Jadyn Herron also competed in the women's 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 9:44.50 as she gained valuable experience at one of the premier indoor meets in the country.
The Tyson Invitational brings together some of the top collegiate and professional athletes in the nation, providing CSU Pueblo an opportunity to test itself against elite competition. With a school record already falling on day one, the ThunderWolves will look to build on their momentum as competition continues throughout the weekend in Fayetteville.
