Andreis Promoted to Head Athletic Trainer at CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 1, 2026) – Colorado State University Pueblo Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships Dr. Paul Plinske has announced the promotion of Cody Andreis to Head Athletic Trainer for ThunderWolves Athletics, effective Oct. 1.

Andreis, who has served as an assistant athletic trainer at CSU Pueblo since July 2022, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the ThunderWolves' athletic training and sports medicine services while working closely with coaches, student-athletes and CSU Pueblo Athletics' medical partners.

"We are excited to promote Cody to Head Athletic Trainer. Over the past several years, Cody has demonstrated tremendous initiative in caring for our student-athletes, providing leadership in sports medicine and staying current with the evolving athletic training profession," Plinske said. "Elevating Cody will help us strengthen our services to student-athletes, deepen our partnership with UCHealth, our exclusive medical provider, and create a stronger presence for athletic training within CSU Pueblo Athletics. Cody's leadership will be instrumental as we continue to enhance the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes."

During his time at CSU Pueblo, Andreis has worked with nearly every ThunderWolves athletic program. He has served as the primary athletic trainer for volleyball, men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, softball, men's wrestling, men's and women's soccer, women's lacrosse, track and field, cheer and dance, among other programs, while also providing coverage for football and baseball.

In addition to his direct care of CSU Pueblo student-athletes, Andreis has helped manage the University's three athletic training rooms, including maintaining equipment and supplies and coordinating athletic training coverage for practices and competitions.

Andreis has also played a role in CSU Pueblo's hosting of NCAA postseason championship events. He has provided athletic training coverage for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships and assisted with the planning and coverage of NCAA Division II postseason events in men's wrestling and cross country. He has also helped develop and regularly update emergency action plans for CSU Pueblo's athletic facilities.

"It is a tremendous honor to be able to lead the sports medicine department here at CSU Pueblo. Since coming here in 2022 and having the opportunity to interact with all of our wonderful coaches, student-athletes and administrators, it has been an easy choice to stay here in Pueblo and lead this department," Andreis said. "I would like to thank Dr. (Paul) Plinske and Jenna McKinley-Fall for giving me this opportunity and trusting me to lead our sports medicine staff. I would also like to thank my family and my wonderful girlfriend, Sasha, for their support and understanding of this line of work."

A native of Cañon City, Colo., Andreis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D., in May 2022. During his time at Presentation, he completed clinical experiences with numerous athletic programs, including baseball, women's basketball, softball, volleyball and men's and women's soccer, along with the Aberdeen Wings hockey organization and Avera Human Performance Center.

Andreis has been a Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer since June 2022 and has held his Colorado athletic training license since July 2022. He is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers' Association and Colorado Athletic Trainers' Association.
