COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The three-game winning streak came to an end for the Colorado State University Pueblo women's basketball team on Wednesday night, as the Pack endured a difficult shooting performance in a 52–35 loss at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
CSU Pueblo struggled offensively throughout the night, shooting 11-of-48 (22.9 percent) from the field and 2-of-18 (11.1 percent) from three-point range. The Pack were limited to just nine points in the first quarter and five in the second, entering halftime trailing 27–14.
Despite the shooting woes, the Pack competed defensively, forcing 15 turnovers, recording seven steals, and holding UCCS to 37.9 percent shooting. CSU Pueblo also narrowly won the rebounding battle, 37–36, including eight offensive rebounds.
The Pack found more rhythm after halftime, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth, but could not overcome the early deficit as UCCS controlled points in the paint and transition opportunities.
Jada Bobb and Seneya Martinez led CSU Pueblo with eight points apiece. Dasani Nesbit paced the Pack on the glass with eight rebounds, while Anyla Owens added four rebounds. Talented freshman Talia Strode made her collegiate debut, providing energy and making an impact off the bench.
The Pack return to action on Saturday, hosting Colorado Christian University at 1:00 p.m. in Pueblo.
