DMR Squad Highlights Big Weekend For Track And Field In Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Colorado State University Pueblo track and field completed its second straight weekend of competition in New Mexico with a historic showing at the New Mexico Team Open, highlighted by one of the fastest relay performances in NCAA Division II history.

The weekend was headlined by the ThunderWolves' men's distance medley relay squad of Caleb McLeod, Ryan King, Tim Anstett, and Jon Sweepe, who delivered one of the most memorable races in program history. The foursome shattered the school record and ran a time of 9:42.36, which converts to 9:33 at altitude, marking the second-fastest time ever recorded in NCAA Division II history. The performance placed CSU Pueblo firmly on the national stage and established the group as one of the premier relay units in the country.

On the distance side, the Pack opened the meet Friday with Crystal Armijo competing in the women's 3,000 meters, where she placed sixth overall in a time of 10:52.38.

In the women's 200 meters, Janise Everett represented CSU Pueblo and clocked a time of 25.20 in the unseeded section. The women's 400 meters saw Gabrielle Dunich record a time of 59.14.

The men's quarter-mile group turned in multiple solid efforts on Friday, led by Demario Medina, who posted a time of 49.91. He was followed by Neveh Jones (50.78), Landon Hadley (50.84), and Caden Howard (51.10), giving CSU Pueblo depth in the sprint group.

Day Two saw the ThunderWolves' middle-distance runners continue their strong weekend. In the men's 800 meters, Caleb McLeod claimed the event title with a time of 1:50.55, while Tim Anstett followed closely behind in second at 1:51.15, giving CSU Pueblo a 1–2 finish. Kanyon Cobbs also competed in the event, finishing in 1:56.09.

In the men's mile, Jon Sweepe added another highlight by winning the event outright with a time of 4:05.09, continuing a dominant weekend for the ThunderWolves' distance crew.

CSU Pueblo also fielded two relay teams in the men's 4x400 relay. The ThunderWolves' "A" squad of Ryan King, Demario Medina, Tim Anstett, and Caleb McLeod posted a time of 3:17.12, while the "B" squad of Landon Hadley, Caden Howard, Kanyon Cobbs, and Neveh Jones crossed the line in 3:22.20, closing out the meet with strong depth across the relay group.

Across both days, CSU Pueblo used the meet to sharpen execution, test itself against deep regional and national fields, and continue building toward the championship portion of the indoor season. The historic DMR performance set the tone for the weekend, while victories in the 800 meters and mile reinforced the Pack's growing national presence in the middle-distance events.

With two straight weekends of competition in New Mexico now complete, the ThunderWolves return home with momentum and confidence, highlighted by a school-record relay performance and multiple event wins as the indoor season continues to build.
