ThunderWolves Split Final Day at Lady Buff Invitational, Bruere Earns First Win

CANYON, Texas – The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team closed out the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Invitational with a split on Saturday, falling to the host Lady Buffs in the morning before bouncing back in the afternoon with a win over Texas A&M International. The victory marked the first career win for Head Coach Jordan Bruere at the helm of the ThunderWolves.

In the opener, CSU Pueblo battled but came up short against No. 3 West Texas A&M, dropping the match in straight sets (16–25, 22–25, 25–27)

Caelyn Gunn led the ThunderWolves with 15 kills, while Taylor Cary added 13 and Grace Helzer hit an efficient .500 with five kills. Setter Brooke Logue paced the offense with 27 assists, and libero Megan Mattingly anchored the defense with 17 digs.

The Pack regrouped in the tournament finale, defeating Texas A&M International in four sets (25–15, 25–21, 22–25, 29–27)

Gunn powered the attack again with a match-high 20 kills and 20 digs for a double-double, while Andi Nothdurft contributed nine kills and hit .389. Logue dished out 40 assists, and Mattingly and Chinaru Inoue held down the back row with a combined 25 digs.

With the win, CSU Pueblo wrapped up the weekend at 1–3 overall, while delivering Coach Bruere her first career victory leading the Pack.

Up next, the ThunderWolves will head to Lubbock, Texas next weekend to compete in the Lubbock Christian University Invitational.
