Volleyball Sweeps Regis In RMAC Opener At Massari Arena

PUEBLO, Colo. — The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping Regis University 3–0 (25–15, 27–25, 25–13) at Massari Arena.

The ThunderWolves (5-4, 1-0 RMAC) fed off the energy of 623 fans in attendance, hitting an impressive .245 as a team while holding the Rangers (0-9, 0-1 RMAC) to just .066 on the attack.

After racing to a convincing 25–15 win in the first set, CSU Pueblo survived a back-and-forth battle in set two, edging Regis 27–25. The Pack then closed the night in style with a commanding 25–13 third-set victory to seal the sweep.

Finja Schul and Taylor Cary anchored the offense, combining for 13 kills, while Lily Zwart added 12 more at a .579 clip. Setter Elena Stankovic fueled the attack with 30 assists, and libero Megan Mattingly steadied the back row with a match-high 12 digs. At the net, the ThunderWolves' block was a difference-maker, tallying 6.0 team blocks compared to Regis' 3.0.

It was also an eventful night for first-year Head Coach Jordan Bruere, who earned her first home victory leading the Pack — and her first win connected to CSU Pueblo since her playing days as a ThunderWolf. Before the match, Bruere was honored with a special video tribute as she was inducted into the Cleveland High School Hall of Fame in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was unable to attend the ceremony in person, choosing instead to guide the Pack in their RMAC opener.

The win marked CSU Pueblo's first RMAC victory of the season and gave the Pack a strong start to their home-opening weekend. They return to Massari Arena Saturday afternoon to take on Chadron State at 3 p.m.
