Volleyball Sweeps Chadron State To Open RMAC Play 2-0

PUEBLO, Colo. — The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team made a statement in its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference home opener, sweeping Chadron State College 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon inside Massari Arena. With the win, the ThunderWolves improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in RMAC play, while the Eagles fall to 3-7 (0-2 RMAC).

The Pack dominated on both sides of the net, hitting an impressive .481 as a team while limiting Chadron State to just .075. CSU Pueblo tallied 45 kills to the Eagles' 26 and finished with 12 team blocks to shut down the visitors' attack.

Offensively, Caelyn Gunn powered the Pack with a match-high 14 kills on a .387 hitting clip, while Finja Schul (.800, 8 kills) and Lily Zwart (.467, 8 kills) provided efficient firepower. Golden Finch was nearly unstoppable as well, hitting .667 with seven kills. Setter Elena Stankovic efficiently ran the offense, dishing out 34 assists and adding three digs, two blocks, and a service ace.

Defensively, Schul led the net presence with five blocks, while Zwart added four. Kacee Garcia and Megan Mattingly anchored the back row with eight digs apiece as the Pack kept the Eagles out of rhythm all afternoon.

The ThunderWolves never trailed in the opening set and used a 12-2 run to build early momentum. CSU Pueblo stayed in control throughout, using balanced scoring and stout defense to close out the sweep and finish the weekend 2-0 in RMAC play.

CSU Pueblo returns to action next weekend with another pair of RMAC road matches as conference play continues. The Pack will travel to South Dakota to take on South Dakota Mines on Friday, and Black Hills State on Saturday.
