PUEBLO, Colo. (Sept. 17, 2025) - Colorado State University Pueblo's
Ainoha Salo (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) and
Matty Parkes (So., Newcastle, England) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A.
In the ThunderWolves Season Opener, Salo picked up a win at No. 5 singles in straight sets as she defeated Janae Montoya from Fort Hays State, 6-2, 6-3. Later versus Colorado College, Salo forced a decisive third set at No. 4 singles against Kala Komanduri after she won the first set 6-1.
On the men's side, Parkes scored a pair of goals and helped lead No. 3 CSU Pueblo men's soccer to a 1-0-1 week. He scored his first career brace in Sunday's 2-0 over Dominican (CA).
Parkes scored his first goal of the year in the 30th minute after he took a pass from near midfield and found the back of the net to give the Pack the early lead.
He added another goal in the 52nd minute when the ThunderWolves drove the ball down field and swift passing inside the box found Parkes who placed it in the back of the net.
In the first road match at No. 22 Fort Hays State, Parkes and Co. came away with a scoreless draw. He recorded over 130 minutes on the pitch.
Up next, Pack men's soccer heads west and will take on Western Oregon on Thursday at 10 a.m. (MT) and will face-off against Saint Martin's on Saturday at 10 a.m. (MT) at WOU Soccer Field.
