SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Colorado State University Pueblo Men's Golf opened strong at the Travis Roy Memorial, finishing the first round tied for the lead at Powder Horn Golf Club. The ThunderWolves fired a team score of 2-over 290, sharing the top spot with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Colorado Mesa University.
Leading the way for CSU Pueblo was Creighton transfer Kyle Leydon, who carded a steady 1-under 71 in his ThunderWolves debut. Agustin Pizzorno kept pace with an even-par 72, while senior leader Archie Wyatt provided valuable experience with a 1-over 73. The team's fourth counting score came from Marius Dosiere, who posted a 2-over 74. Rounding out the lineup, redshirt freshman Jake Johnston made his collegiate debut, shooting a 7-over 79.
The event is being played at Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyoming. Nestled in the western Rocky Mountains, the private 27-hole Dick Bailey design embraces a casual western-style golf experience. Managed by Troon Golf, Powder Horn has become a premier destination in the region, blending championship-level play with the natural beauty of its mountain surroundings.
With both CSU Pueblo and Colorado Mesa holding a five-shot advantage over the rest of the 12-team field, the ThunderWolves will look to build on their strong start heading into Tuesday's second round at Powder Horn.
