COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 3, 2025) – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced the winners of the 2024-25 Brechler Awards on Wednesday afternoon and Colorado State University Pueblo had its women's cross country team recognized for having the league's highest grade point average.
 
The Brechler Award, which is named after Paul W. Brechler, the first Commissioner of the RMAC (1976-1990), recognizes top team grade-point-average of each of the RMAC's 21 sponsored sports and has been awarded annually since 2012-13 with the exception of 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
During the 2024-25 academic year, the women's cross country team, which is coached by Matt Morris, recorded a 3.828 overall cumulative GPA. The Pack's GPA was the highest amongst the 15 women's cross country teams in the league.
 
It marks the first time that the Pack women's cross country has been honored with a Brechler Award from the RMAC and the fourth consecutive school year that at least one CSU Pueblo athletic team was recognized as the football team was honored in 2023-24, the men's cross country and women's volleyball team were honored in 2022-23 and the women's volleyball team was honored in 2021-22.

CSU Pueblo was one 11 schools in the 15-team league to have at least one of its teams earn a Brechler Award for the 2024-25 school year. Regis and Colorado Mesa led the way with four teams recognized. Chadron State was next with three programs honored, while Black Hills State, Colorado School of Mines and Westminster each had two teams recognized. MSU Denver, Texas Woman's (affiliate member for women's wrestling), South Dakota Mines and Western Colorado joined CSU Pueblo with one team each being recognized.
 
Since the award began in 2012-13, CSU Pueblo Athletics has had 13 of its athletic teams recognized with men's tennis team earning the most honors with three (2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18). Volleyball and Men's Cross Country have each been honored twice.

The winners of the 2024-25 Brechler Awards will be presented their plaques at the 2025 RMAC Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 10 at the Colorado Springs Marriott. The team GPAs were submitted to the RMAC by each institution's compliance administrator.
