Cross Country Has Historic Finish At National Championships

Championships were held in Sacramento, Calif.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Cross Country programs concluded their historic 2024 season at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Northern California, as the women reached the podium with a third place finish, while the men finished in 14th place.

The third place finish for the women is the highest finish in program history. Both teams reached their highest ranking ever during the 2024 regular season, as the women were once ranked No. 2 in the nation, while the men cracked the top 10.

The women's team finished in third place at the National Championship with 160 points, while the men finished in 14th place with 394 points.

The ThunderWolves had four All-Americans after the race. 

Reece Sharman-Newell (Hampshire, England) added another All-American to his resume, as the Englishmen finished in 31st place, with a time of 30:17.7 in the 10k event.

Helen Braybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom/Oakham School) continued her historic career, adding another All-American title to her name, finishing in 13th place with a time of 20:54.5 in the 6k event.

Leah Keisler (Biggar, United Kingdom/Biggar) continued her incredible start to her career in a CSU Pueblo uniform, as it is the first season she has ever competed in cross country. The Scot finished in 20th place, earning All-American honors.

Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France) proved that hard work pays off. Everyone's favorite Frenchie finished in 28th place, with a time of 21:12.6 to bring home All-American honors.

Rounding out the scoring for the women were Camille Renou (Chalonnes, France), Jadyn Herron (Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel), Sarah Renberg (Fresno, Calif./Edison), and Crystal Armijo (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East).

Renou finished in 46th place with a time of 21:35.4, while Herron finished in 72nd place, running a time of 21:50.1

Renberg finished in 118th place with a time of 22:19.1, while Armijo finished in 163rd, running a time of 22:47.4.

The men's team was led by Sharman-Newell, who finished his career in 31st place.

Matisse Virey (Meyzieu, France) also finished his incredible career, as the Frenchman finished in 58th place, running a time of 30:54.6.

Kameron Eustace (Zuni, N.M./Zuni) finished in 79th place with a time of 31:08.7, while Kaleb Beloy (Achorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) finished in 116th with a time of 31:29.2.

Jon Sweepe (Peoria, Ariz./Liberty) had an impressive freshman campaign for the Pack, finishing in 170th and a time of 31:10.5.

Matthew Roberds (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) finished in 196th place, running a time of 32:34.2, while Joseph Harker (Rehoboth, N.M./Rehoboth Christian) finished in 252nd place and a time of 34:06.1.

WELCOME BACK THE PACK

The CSU Pueblo Cross Country programs will return to Pueblo on Sunday Afternoon. Fans and fellow Pack Student/Athletes are encouraged to show up to the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl tomorrow at 3:30 to welcome back the team from the airport. The squads will be back at 3:45 in Pueblo.
