PUEBLO, Colo. - Head Coach
Matt Morris of Colorado State University Pueblo Cross Country has been named a finalist by The Strider Report for the Nation's best Cross Country coach in NCAA Division II.
Morris headlines the nominees after taking both the men's team and the women's team to the NCAA Division II National Championship last month in Sacramento, Calif. The ThunderWolves had incredible accomplishments this season, including reaching the highest ranking ever in school history on the women's side, as the Pack were as high as No. 2 in all the county.
Morris produced four All-Americans this season, as
Reece Sharman-Newell (Hampshire, England), Helen Brraybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom),
Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France), and
Leah Keisler (Biggar, United Kingdom) all took home All-American honors.
The women's team had a podium finish at Nationals, finishing in third place, the highest finish ever in school history. The men's team had a great season, finishing in 14th place at Nationals.
Morris also produced four All-Region runners. Braybrook and Thomas-Gatel took home the honors on the womens' side, while Sharman-Newell and
Matisse Virey (Meyzieu, France) took home the prestigious award on the men's side.
Braybrook and Virey also took home All-Conference awards after the RMAC Championship.
Other nominees include Damon Martin of Adams State, Zach Daniel of West Texas A&M, Jerry Baltes of Grand Valley State, James Kearney of Lewis, and Chris Siemers of Colorado Schoo of Mines.
