PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field team wrapped up its regular season in impressive fashion as they hosted the NCAA Last Chance Meet at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl. The ThunderWolves delivered standout performances across multiple events, setting the stage for a strong showing at the upcoming NCAA National Championships.
The highlight of the day came from Camille Renou, who stamped her ticket to the NCAA Championships in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Renou dazzled the home crowd with an outstanding run, clocking 10:47.48, which converted to a national-qualifying time of 10:32.
On the men's side, the 4x400-meter relay squad of Caleb McLeod, Emil Meggle, Tyrell Smith, and Reece Sharman-Newell made a strong statement, winning their event in 3:09.29 to put themselves in prime position for a potential NCAA bid. The women's 4x400 relay team also awaits word on a possible championship berth as results come in from last chance meets across the country.
Sprinter Janise Everett had a strong day in the women's 200 meters, finishing with a time of 25.08. Meanwhile, Gabrielle Dunich, normally the sprinting leg of the National Championship distance medley relay (DMR) squad and outdoor 4x400 relay, tried her hand at the women's 800 meters and won the event in 2:22.89.
In the hurdles and jumps, Mary Scoggins placed fourth in the women's 100-meter hurdles (16.31), followed closely by Kyla Ruzich in fifth (18.12). The pair also impressed in the long jump, with Ruzich taking first place (5.37m) and Scoggins finishing second (5.10m).
Freshman Keturah Templeman continued her stellar season by winning the women's javelin with an NCAA provisional mark of 42.44 meters.
On the men's side, Ryan King claimed victory in the 400 meters (48.66), while Kaleb Tipton impressed in the 800 meters, winning in 1:51.24 and earning an NCAA provisional mark.
In the field events, Lucas Moran dominated the hammer throw (58.58m, NCAA provisional), and Ian Thomas extended his brilliant season by winning the men's javelin with a school-record throw of 66.32 meters, followed by Moosah Alsaffar in second (60.10m).
Looking ahead, head coach Matt Morris noted that a few athletes may head to additional last chance meets at Azusa Pacific and Air Force to secure national bids. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will return to the ThunderBowl from May 22–24, where the ThunderWolves will look to cap off an exceptional season on their home track.
