COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo baseball team wrapped up its 2025 regular season in impressive fashion, defeating the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) 10-6 in the final game of a four-game series at Mountain Lion Park.
With the win, the ThunderWolves claimed the series 3-1 and finished the season with a 32-18 overall record and a 22-10 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play — their best finish under head coach Bobby Applegate and the program's winningest season since 2015.
The ThunderWolves secured third place in the RMAC standings and are in strong position heading into both the RMAC Championship Tournament and the NCAA South Central Regional, which is expected to be held in San Angelo, Texas. The Pack will take on MSU Denver in the first round of the RMAC Tournament at 11 AM on Wednesday in Grand Junction, Colo.
In Game 4, pitcher Nick Perry earned his sixth win of the year, going 5.2 innings and allowing just three runs with five strikeouts. Jake Olguin-Pacheco and Alex Oliver closed the door in relief, giving up only two earned runs over the final 1.1 innings. Offensively, CSU Pueblo was led once again by Kyson Howard, who despite playing at about "80%" with a broken hand, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a key bases-clearing double in the fourth inning.
Earlier in the day, CSU Pueblo won Game 3 of the series 12-4. In Game 4, after falling behind 2-0 on a Kit Wigington home run, the ThunderWolves stormed back with three runs in the second, highlighted by Brad Stone's RBI single, Noah Williams' sac fly, and Wyatt Reginato's RBI single. They added to their lead thanks to a UCCS throwing error and then blew the game open when Howard delivered his three-run double. Christian Castaneda later smashed his 10th home run of the season, a two-run blast in the seventh, sealing the offensive outburst. UCCS rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Oliver shut the door to preserve the win.
Next up, CSU Pueblo heads to Grand Junction, Colorado, for the 2025 RMAC Championship Tournament at Colorado Mesa University. The ThunderWolves, seeded third, join top-seeded Colorado Mesa, second-seeded Regis, fourth-seeded MSU Denver, fifth-seeded Adams State, and sixth-seeded UCCS in the tournament field. With CSU Pueblo currently sitting at No. 4 in the South Central regional rankings, they are in a solid position to secure a postseason berth and continue their standout season.
