GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Baseball Team dropped a high-scoring contest to MSU Denver in the opening round of the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament, falling 15-10 at Colorado Mesa University's campus in Grand Junction.
With the loss, the third-seeded ThunderWolves slip to 32-19 overall, while the fourth-seeded Roadrunners improve to 31-20.
Despite the defeat, the double-elimination format keeps CSU Pueblo's tournament hopes alive, as they now await their next match-up set for 3 p.m. tomorrow. CSU Pueblo will take on the winner of sixth-seeded UCCS, or No. 1 seed Colorado Mesa.
The game started with promise for the Pack, as All-RMAC First Team selection Christian Castaneda drove in the game's first run. After MSU Denver quickly answered and took control with a pair of home runs and a powerful offensive surge in the middle innings, the Roadrunners built a commanding 12-3 lead.
Still, the ThunderWolves showed fight. Castaneda led the comeback efforts with two home runs and four RBIs, and standout Cody Macias contributed with a double and a sac fly. Noah Williams added a homer as well, but the late push wasn't enough to overcome the Roadrunners' offensive outburst.
MSU Denver's Nolan Livesy earned the win, improving to 9-2, while RMAC Pitcher of the Year Travis Farrell took the loss, falling to 8-3.
CSU Pueblo, which had six players named to All-RMAC teams, will look to stay alive in the tournament when they return to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. against top-seeded Colorado Mesa.Â
