COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field squads continue to make its mark both on the track and in the classroom, as multiple ThunderWolves were honored by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for their academic excellence on Tuesday afternoon. A total of 14 student-athletes were recognized across the men's and women's teams, with standout performances leading to several selections and a top academic honor.
Headlining the awards was Katherine Higgins, who was named the RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year. A senior education major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Higgins led the 15-member First Team All-Academic list and was one of only five student-athletes to repeat as a first-team selection. In addition to her academic prowess, Higgins is an All-American athlete who won the shot put title at the RMAC Indoor Championships and claimed silver at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in Indianapolis.
Joining Higgins on the first team was veteran distance runner Jadyn Herron, who posted a 3.96 GPA in social work. The Arizona native was instrumental in leading the ThunderWolves to a national championship in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the NCAA Indoor Championships and also competed in the 800-meter event.
On the women's side, seven additional ThunderWolves were named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll:
