PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo Baseball scored six runs over the final four innings here Friday evening to post a 7-6 come-from-behind walk-off Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Adams State University in its 20th Annual Pack the Park Game held in front of a season-high 905 fans in Hobbs Field at Runyon Sports Complex.
With the win, the ThunderWolves improve to 26-17 overall and 16-9 in the RMAC, while Adams State falls to 17-26 overall and 13-12 in the league. The teams will continue their four-game series with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Rawlings Field on the CSU Pueblo campus.
The Pack, who trailed 6-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, rallied to score three runs in the sixth, and added two runs in the seventh to tie the game at 6-all, before using a walk-off RBI infield single from senior right fielder
Elijah Borjas (Denver, Colo./Lakewood) in the bottom of the ninth to post the win. Borjas' single allowed senior left fielder
Wyatt Reginato (Cottonwood, Calif./Folsom Lake) to score from second base as the throw home from first base was wide of home plate. Reginato had led off the inning with a single to left field.
On the night, the Pack outhit the Grizzlies, 11-9, but both teams struggled with runners on base as they combined to leave 19 runners on base. The Pack stranded 10 base runners, while ASU left nine runners on base.
Reginato paced the Pack offense with a 4-for-4 effort at the plate with three runs scored, while fifth-year senior first baseman
Christian Castaneda (El Paso, Texas/Otero JC) and junior catcher
Cody Macias (San Diego, Calif./Granite Hills) each had two hits and combined to score three runs. Castaneda has now reached base in all 43 games this season and has a current reached base streak of 51 consecutive games dating to last season.
ASU got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by Josh Parks off of senior hurler
Travis Farrell (Las Vegas, Nev./Otero JC) to take a 1-0 lead.
The Pack got that run back in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run over the wall in left off the bat of Macias. The homer was the first of the season for Macias.
ASU put two runners on base in the top of the third thanks to a Pack error and walk, and both of those runners would score on a three-run homer over the wall in right by Josiah Hall to give the Grizzlies a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Pack put runners on second and third thanks to a hit batter and a single, but ASU hurler Brian Walters got out of the jam by forcing Castaneda to pop out to right.
The Grizzlies pushed its lead to 5-1 in the top of the fourth on an RBI single to left by Parks and added another run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Christian Altamirano to give the Grizzlies a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Pack plated three runs thanks to a hit and two ASU errors to pull within 6-4. The only hit in the inning was a double by Castaneda to extend his hit streak to 11 straight games.

Devean Alvarez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Chaffey College) led off with an infield single, moved to second on a single by Reginato, and both runners moved up a base on a single by Castaneda to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Borjas brought home the first run on a sacrifice fly to right, and Macias brought home the second run on an RBI groundout to second base.
In the ninth, ASU put two runners on base with two outs against redshirt junior hurler Cole Blommer (Arapahoe, Colo./Lamar CC), who was the third Pack pitcher of the game, before Bloomer got out of the jam by forcing Altamirano to ground into a fielder's choice to keep the game tied.
ASU was paced by a 3-for-5 night at the plate by Altamirano, while Hall and Parks each had two hits and combined to score four runs and have five RBI.
Bloomer (2-0) pitched the ninth inning to earn the win as he allowed one hit, while walking one and fanning one. Farrell earned a no-decision as he tossed six innings and allowed seven hits and six runs (four earned), while walking three and fanning four in his 101-pitch outing and freshman
Danny Retzlaff (Corona, Calif./Centennial) pitched two scoreless innings of relief and allowed one hit and struck out three.
Phil Carter (4-5), who relieved Walters in the sixth inning, earned the loss for the Grizzlies as he tossed 2.1 innings and allowed six hits and three runs, while walking two and fanning one. Walters pitched 5.2 innings and allowed five hits and four runs (three earned), while striking out four and walking two.
Both teams committed three errors in the game, and the Pack stole two bases to one stolen base for Adams State.
