GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field squads are set to make their presence felt at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Outdoor Championships this weekend, Friday and Saturday, on the campus of Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
After a strong regular season, the ThunderWolves are locked in and loaded with talent, looking to bring home the coveted RMAC title on both the men's and women's sides. With championship-level experience and top-ranked athletes across the board, CSU Pueblo enters the meet as a serious contender for the podium.
Women's Team Ready to Dominate the Mid-Distance and Throws
On the women's side, the ThunderWolves are led by none other than Helen Braybrook, fresh off her national championship in the indoor 800 meters and part of the national champion DMR squad. The reigning RMAC Indoor Athlete of the Year looks to carry her momentum into the outdoor season, entering the 1500 meters as a top contender. Braybrook is seeded first in the 1500 (4:15.75) and will be joined by Jaden Heron, who is right behind her with a seed time of 4:17.40.
In the 800 meters, Leah Keisler enters as the No. 1 seed with a blistering time of 2:05.31, giving the ThunderWolves a legitimate shot at another 800 title..
The throwers are equally poised to make noise, with All-Americans Katherine Higgins and Febe Wessels favored in both the shot put and hammer throw. Both are not only seeking conference glory but also tuning up for a strong postseason run.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, CSU Pueblo boasts a powerful French duo: Margot Thomas-Gatel, an All-American from last year, enters with the second-best time (10:28.37), while Camille Renou is also a contender at 10:42.10. Expect both to battle for podium spots and All-RMAC honors.
Janise Everett and Gabrielle Dunich are both heavy favorites in sprinting events as Everett comes in with a seed time of 56.73, while Dunich, a DMR Indoor National Champion has a time of 57.35.
Men's Squad Brings the Heat in Throws and Distance
On the men's side, CSU Pueblo brings a lethal mix of experienced All-Americans and rising stars. In the javelin, Ian Thomas, the school record holder who's been on fire lately with back-to-back record-breaking performances, comes in as one of the favorites to win the title. He'll be joined by Luke Mummert, who recently took first at Colorado Mesa, and Moosah Alsaffar giving the ThunderWolves depth in the event.
The hammer throw will feature Felipe Castro and Lucas Moran, two powerful athletes ready to make an impact.
In the men's 1500 meters, indoor All-Americans John Sweep and Reece Sharman-Newell will toe the line, both carrying strong momentum into the weekend as they chase more conference accolades. Joseph Harker is also a threat in a long distance event, as the veteran runner is in the finals of the 10000m run.
The Pack's superstar sprinter Tyrell Smith, who is fresh off an All-American performance at the Indoor National Championship in the DMR as Smith is one of the favorites, sitting just on the outside of an NCAA Provisional with a mark of 10.48 seconds. Smith is also entered in the 200 dash.
With talent spread across sprints, distance, and field events, the ThunderWolves have the firepower to make a serious run at both RMAC titles. All eyes turn to Golden this weekend as CSU Pueblo looks to finish the regular season with a statement and set the tone for a big postseason push.
