ThunderWolves Catch Fire On Moving Day, Climb Into Third At 12 Under

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's golf team took full advantage of moving day during round two, firing an impressive 8-under 280 to vault into a tie for third place at 12-under par overall at Boulder Creek Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The ThunderWolves improved on their first-round score of 284 (-4) and now trail the red-hot leaders, Colorado Christian University, by 21 shots heading into the final round.

The reigning 2024 NCAA Division II national champions, the Colorado Christian Cougars, continue to dominate the field at 33-under par, while Colorado School of Mines holds second place at 26-under.

The ThunderWolves put on a show in round two, highlighted by two rounds in the 60s. Fifth-year senior Thomas Craig lit up the course with a brilliant 6-under 66, fueled by seven birdies. The Scotland native now finds himself in fourth place individually and firmly in contention.

Agustin Pizzorno delivered a headline-making round as well, carding a 4-under 68 that included an albatross on the par-5 fourth hole, where he knocked a fairway wood in from the fairway for a rare deuce. He was not done yet—Pizzorno also eagled the par-5 seventh and made the turn at 4-under. He added two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine to close out an electric round.

Team captain Archie Wyatt kept things steady with a 1-over 73, placing him at 1-under for the tournament and in 16th place individually. Fellow Scot Callum Kenneally matched Wyatt with a 73 of his own and sits at 4-over for the event, tied for 27th. Marius Dosiere, who opened with a strong 70 (-2), struggled a bit in round two with a 76 (+4), placing him at 2-over overall and tied for 22nd.

With a postseason berth all but secured, the ThunderWolves will look to go low in the final round, playing with freedom and momentum on their side. While the gap to the leaders is wide, CSU Pueblo has shown they can make noise and will aim to finish strong.

Final-round tee times will be posted later tonight on GoThunderwolves.com and on Scoreboard powered by Clipped.
