GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo baseball squad dropped the series finale on the road at Colorado Mesa University in the opening series of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play for the Pack.
With the loss, the ThunderWolves fall to 11-11 overall and 1-3 in league play, while the Mavs improve to 14-8 overall and 7-1 in RMAC play.
Colorado Mesa took an early 4-0 lead with one run in the first and three runs in the second.
The Pack answered in the third with two runs with RBI's single from
Noah Williams and
Rob Mansour, cutting the lead in half.
The Mavs responded in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run homer, but the Pack responded once again with RBI's singles from
Kade Snodgrass and
Elijah Borjas in the fourth and fifth.
Cody Macias singled in two runs in the fifth, cutting the Mavs lead down to just one at 7-6.Â
The Mavs extended their lead once again, right when the Pack seemed to have gotten back in the game. Coloraodo Mesa scored five runs in the sixth and seventh to take a 13-6 lead through seven innings.
George Andrews along with Borjas drove in a run in the top of the ninth to make the score 13-8, but that was all the Pack were able to muster.
The Pack will return to action this coming weekend (March 21-23) as they host Regis for a four-game RMAC series at Rawlings Field. The teams will open the series with a single game on Friday, March 21Â at 2 p.m., before playing a doubleheader on Saturday, March 22 beginning at 1 p.m. and conclding the series with 12 p.m. game on Sunday, March 23.Â
