Baseball Splits Sunday Doubleheader On Sunday In Grand Junction; Look For Series Split On Monday

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Baseball squad split Sunday's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference double-header on the road at Colorado Mesa University, dropping the first game and bouncing back in the second game.

The ThunderWolves dropped game one yesterday 10-5 and dropped game two of the series (game one today) 8-4. CSU Pueblo bounced back nicely winning the third game of the series 6-4.

Tyler Clementz took the loss in Game Two of the series, while Nick Perry picked up the win in game three of the series.

CSU Pueblo is 11-10 (1-2 RMAC) going into Monday's Finale, while Colorado Mesa is 13-8 (7-1 RMAC).

GAME ONE
CSU Pueblo took an early 4-0 lead in game one on Sunday. Elijah Borjas knocked in the first run of the game in the third inning with an RBI single to center. Kysen Howard then bombed a three-run home run to right center to give the ThunderWolves a solid start to the game.

The Mavericks answered with four of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning when Preston Winget bombed a grand slam to tie the game at 4-4.

The Mavs took the lead with two runs in the fifth to make the score 6-4. The Mavs added some insurance in the sixth with two to extend their lead to 8-4.

The Pack were unable to mount a comeback, eventually dropping the game 8-4.

GAME TWO
The Pack struck first once again in game two when Christian Castaneda singled in a run up the middle in the top of the first. The Mavs answered in the bottom of the first, scoring on a hit by pitch, but Perry was able to get out of the inning with just the one run allowed.

Noah Williams drove in a huge two RBI double in the top of the second, giving the Pack a 3-1 lead. The Mavs hit a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning, but once again that is all Perry allowed.

Borjas hit a sac fly in the third to put the Pack up 4-2, but once again the Mavs answered with two runs in the bottom half to tie the game once again.

Noah Williams delivered the dagger in the fourth inning with a two-run homer to deep right center to put the Pack up 6-4.

Jack Novak picked up the six-out save, throwing two perfect innings in the sixth and seventh to close the game.
