PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Baseball squad split Friday's double-header at Rawlings Field in Pueblo versus Montana State University Billings.
The Pack won the first game 4-0 behind an absolute gem from
Travis Farrell, and dropped the second game 6-4. Both games on Friday were seven inning games.
With the 1-1 Friday, the Pack are now 4-3, while the Yellow Jackets are now 5-3.Â
GAME ONE
Farrell set the tone for the Pack in game one, exerting his dominance early on from the mound. Farrell finished the outing with a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits and no runs.
Elijah Borjas got the ThunderWolves on the board first with a line shot down the right field line to score
Christian Castaneda. Howard followed up Borjas with an RBI single up the middle to score arun.
Howard continued his hot bat, hitting a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Pack a 3-0 lead.
Cody Macias singled in a run in the sixth inning to give the ThunderWolves a comfortable 4-0 lead going into the final inning.
Farrell polished off his marvelous performance going three up three down in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
GAME TWO
Game two look promising for the ThunderWolves as they were able to take an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. After falling behind 1-0, Borjas singled in
Rob Mansour to tie the game at 1-1 and
Jason Arriola gave the Pack the lead with an RBI single up the middle.
MSU Billings tied the game in the third and retook the lead in the fourth at 4-2. The Pack rallied in the fourth with an RBI from
Noah Williams and an RBI single from
Rob Mansour to tie the game at 4-4.
Just like they have all series, Billings showed their relentlessness, taking the lead back in the sixth with an RBI single to right. The Yellow Jackets were able to add an insurance run in the seventh to take the lead 6-4.Â
CSU Pueblo was unable to rally late in the game, eventually falling to MSU Billings 6-4.
