Baseball Drops Series Finale To MSU Billings

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Baseball squad dropped the series finale at home against Montana State University Billings 11-7 at Rawlings Field.

With the loss, the Pack fall to 4-4 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 6-3 overall on the season. MSU Billings took home the series victory three games to one.

Last season when the two teams met, the series was split two games apiece.

MSU Billings ended the day with 10 hits on their 11 runs, while the Pack finished with 10 hits on their seven runs. The Pack had to use six pitchers on the afternoon, while MSU Billings just used two.

Malcolm Bartholomew picked up the win in seven and two thirds innings pitched of relief. Danny Retzlaff made his Rawlings Field debut, taking the loss.

ABOUT THE GAME
The ThunderWolves took the game by storm out the gates, taking an early 3-0 lead right off the bat in the first inning. Wyatt Reginato doubled in a run off the wall to put the Pack up 1-0, and Elijah Borjas blasted a two-run homer over the left field wall to put the ThunderWolves up 3-0 after one.

Dominic Corgiat had a nice start to the afternoon, pitching three clean innings without allowing a run to give the Pack a solid advantage and momentum early on.

George Andrews doubled to deep left field in the third inning to score two runs and Kade Snodgrass doubled to deep center to score Andrews. The Pack led 6-0 after three innings, having full control of the game.

The fourth inning is where the Yellow Jackets made their run, scoring seven runs in the fourth, knocking Corgiat out of the game and taking the lead.

Kysen Howard answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game with a rip down the left field line to drive in Christian Castaneda, but MSU Billings once again answered in the sixth with a grand-slam from Ryan Jeffey to take the momentum back from the Pack.

CSU Pueblo was unable to find an answer for Bartholomew as the side arm lefty kept the Pack off the board, securing an 11-7 win for MSU Billings.
