COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time this season and the third time in his career, Colorado State University Pueblo senior quarterback
Roman Fuller (Decatur, Texas/University of Tulsa) has been named this week's National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Player of the Week.
It is the fourth time this season that the ThunderWolves have had a player earn an NFF Colorado Chapter Player of the Week accolade as redshirt senior receiver
Reggie Retzlaff (Corona, Calif./Riverside City College) was honored last week following his play against Mines, while junior linebacker
Bryson Torrie (Denver, Colo./Vista Peak) was honored on Sept. 30 following his play against Adams State and Fuller was honored on Sept. 9 following his performance against Fort Hays State.
The NFF Colorado Chapter Player of the Week honor is the second this week for Fuller, as he was named the final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the 2025 season on Monday afternoon.
Fuller earns this week's NFF Colorado Chapter Player of the Week accolade after setting CSU Pueblo single-game records and Division II season bests for pass completions and attempts, and threw touchdown passes in both overtime periods as the ThunderWolves outlasted Chadron State, 30-27, in double overtime to earn its second straight RMAC football title. Fuller finished the game, completing 40-of-66 passes for 442 yards and three touchdowns. Fuller's first touchdown pass came late in the first half on a 10-yard pass to Retzlaff, providing the ThunderWolves their first touchdown and trimming their deficit to 14-10 at the break. In the first overtime, he found Retzlaff again for a one-yard score to put CSU Pueblo ahead 24-17, and then in the second overtime, facing a 3rd-and-9 on the 19-yard line, he found junior receiver Marcellus Honeycutt Jr. (Denver, Colo./Eastern Washington) in the end zone for the walk-off touchdown.
The 66 pass attempts and the 40 pass completions are the most in a game this season by a Division II player, while his 442 yards passing are the eighth most yards in a game by a Division II player this season. The Pack's previous school record for pass attempts was 52 by Isaac Williams at New Mexico Highlands in 2021, while the previous school record for pass completions was 34 by Fuller last season at Western Colorado. In addition, Fuller's 442 yards passing is the second most in a game in school history. Fuller now has two of the top passing yardage games in program history - 442 vs. Chadron State in 2025 and 435 yards at Western Colorado in 2024.
On the season, Fuller leads the RMAC in passing touchdowns (30), passing yards (3,221), passing yards per game (292.8 ypg), and completions per game (23.36), and is second in the RMAC in total offense (289.1 ypg), points responsible for (192), and is fourth in completion percentage (61.3 percent). He is one of three quarterbacks in CSU Pueblo history to throw for 4,000 career yards and 40 career touchdowns. He enters the postseason second in single-season pass attempts (419), second in single-season pass completions (257), third in single-season passing yards (3,221), tied for third in single-season touchdown passes (30), and is third in single-season total offense (3,179) and is fourth in single-season touchdowns responsible for (32). Additionally, he is third on the school's career passing attempts (614), third in career passing completions (394), third in career passing touchdowns (48), and is third in career passing yards (5,063) and is fourth in career total offense (4,993). Fuller is also one of three quarterbacks in CSU Pueblo history to throw for 4,000 career yards and 40 career touchdowns.
Fuller and the fourth-ranked and Super Region Four No. 3 seeded ThunderWolves (10-1 overall, 9-0 RMAC) will return to the field this coming Saturday, Nov. 22, as they host 10th-ranked UT-Permian Basin for a first-round NCAA Division II Super Region Four playoff game. Saturday's playoff game in the ThunderBowl will kick off at 1:02 p.m. The Pack enters the game having won nine straight games, which is tied for the fourth-longest active win streak in Division II football.
