PUEBLO, Colo. – Thanks to its 59-13 win Saturday at New Mexico Highlands, the Colorado State University Pueblo football team jumped one spot to No. 11 in this week's latest AFCA Division II Coaches' and D2Football.com polls that were released Monday.
In this week's sixth weekly national Division II football polls of the season, the ThunderWolves, who are 5-1 on the season and 4-0 in the RMAC following its win at New Mexico Highlands, jumped to No. 11 in the latest AFCA Division II Coaches' Poll presented by Hudl and also jumped to No. 11 in the latest D2Football.com Media Top 25 Poll.
The Pack received 454 points in this week's AFCA Coaches' Poll to sit 30 points in front of No. 12 Angelo State (4-1), who lost Saturday at home to then No. 9 ranked UT-Permian Basin and 38 points behind No. 10 Minnesota-Duluth (6-0).
The Pack are one of three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools either ranked or receiving votes in the latest AFCA poll and one of two league schools ranked in the D2Football.com poll. Besides the Pack in the AFCA poll, Western Colorado (5-0) jumped two spots to No. 5 following its 49-10 road win last week over Fort Lewis, while Chadron State (4-2) was one of 14 schools to earn votes this week as they Eagles received three votes after improving to 4-0 in the RMAC with a 45-2 win Saturday at Adams State. In the D2Football.com poll, Western Colorado fell one spot to No. 6 this week.
In this week's latest polls, Ferris State (5-0) and Harding (5-0) continue to sit No. 1 and No. 2 in both polls again this week as Ferris State earned 775 points and all 31 first place votes in the AFCA poll, while Harding earned 744 points this week. Behind Ferris and State and Harding in the AFCA poll is West Florida (5-0) at No. 3, Kutztown (5-0) at No. 4 and Western Colorado at No. 5.
Meanwhile, in the D2Football.com poll, Kutztown (Pa.) remains No. 3 and is followed at No. 4 by UT-Permian Basin and West Florida at No. 5.
CSU Pueblo will look to win its fifth consecutive game and improve to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the RMAC this coming Saturday, Oct. 11 as the ThunderWolves host Fort Lewis (1-4, 0-3 RMAC) in its annual Homecoming and Hall of Fame Game. The Pack has won 20 straight RMAC games dating to the 2023 season, which is currently the longest active conference win streak in Division II football.
