Volleyball Keeps Rolling; Wins Ninth Straight To Remain In First Place

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine matches and 13 of its last 14 overall, outlasting Westminster (UT) in a thrilling five-set battle (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8) on Friday evening at Behnken Field House.

With the victory, the ThunderWolves improved to 13-4 overall and 7-0 in RMAC play, remaining in first place in the conference and one game ahead of second-place MSU Denver (6-1).

Team Effort and Offensive Balance

The Pack hit an efficient .265 as a team, tallying 61 kills and 11 total team blocks. Senior outside hitter Caelyn Gunn once again led the offensive charge, finishing with 17 kills, 16 digs, three aces, and two blocks for a well-rounded double-double performance.

Fellow senior Golden Finch was a force at the net, recording nine kills and a team-best .364 hitting percentage while adding three solo blocks. Senior middle Taylor Cary also came up big with 11 kills on .360 hitting and a solo block.

Setter Elena Stankovic orchestrated the offense with 46 assists and added five digs and a service ace, while Finja Schul contributed 11 kills and four solo blocks, providing a steady two-way presence for CSU Pueblo.

Defensive Resilience

On the back row, Megan Mattingly led all players with 16 digs, while Chinaru Inoue added 10 more to help limit Westminster to a .201 hitting mark on the night. The ThunderWolves' front line out-blocked the Griffins 11-8, a key advantage that swung momentum during crucial stretches.

Match Flow

CSU Pueblo took early control with a decisive first set win before Westminster battled back to even the match. The Pack regained the edge with a gritty third set and ultimately dominated the fifth, hitting .429 in the final frame to seal the road victory.

Up Next
