Box Score SAN MARCOS, Calif. (September 15, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team wrapped a four-game road trip to start the season on Sunday, falling 3-0 against Cal State San Marcos in a matinee match-up at The Cage.
CSU Pueblo made four shots in the game and two landed on goal, led by
Lorena Vargas-Galvan (So., Mexico City, Mexico) who came off the bench and fired two shots and one SOG.
The Pack hit their first shot in the 5' on shot wide by
Evie Wysong (Jr., Bel Air, Maryland). Their first shot on goal came in the 24th by
Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) on a low and inside the right post strike that was saved by CSUSM goalkeeper Allison Marcure.
After a flurry of substitutions for the Cougars, they had a throw in inside ThunderWolves territory and found the back of the net on a shot low during the 28th minute.
At the break, CSU Pueblo registered two shots and one SOG against nine shots and five corners from CSUSM.
Entering the second half, the Cougars added a second goal in the 53'.
The ThunderWolves best scoring chance of the half came in the 83rd minute when they earned a corner and allowed Vargas-Galvan to fire a shot that went wide.
At the net,
Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) surrendered three goals and made six saves against 20 shots and nine SOG.
CSU Pueblo (1-1-2) returns home this week and will make their home debut on Wednesday when they welcome University of Tampa to Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium for a 7 p.m. match-up under the lights.
