Thomas-Gatel Highlights Track and Field On Day One of Nationals

EMPORIA, Kan. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Men's and Women's Track and Field Squads completed day one of the 2024 Division II Outdoor National Championships at Emporia State University.

The ThunderWolves only competed in two events on Thursday, competing in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase in both the men's and women's divisions.

The Pack were highlighted by Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France) as the Frenchie ran a stellar time in the women's 3000m steeplechase, running a time of 10:35.28 to finish fourth in Heat One, qualifying for the finals.

Matisse Virey (Lyon, France) and Kaleb Beloy (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) both competed in the men's 3000-Meter Steeplechase. Unfortunately, Virey was disqualified after a collision at the barrier, and Beloy finished the race in 16th place with a time of 9:25.14.

CSU Pueblo is back in action tomorrow as Jadyn Herron-Jonap (Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel) will compete as she will take the track at 6:15 PM CST in the women's 800 meters. Thomas-Gatel competes in the finals for the 3000m Steeplechase at 7:30 PM.
