Men's Basketball Places Three Players on All-RMAC Teams

Morris Earns Second-Team Honors, Walter and Muldrew Tabbed Honorable Mention Selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released the 2023-24 All-Conference Men's Basketball Teams on Wednesday afternoon and Colorado State University Pueblo landed three players on one of the league's three All-RMAC Teams.

Senior guard Makiah Morris (San Diego, Calif./San Diego City College), who ranks in the Top 10 in the league in rebounding, assists and steals and is 13th in the league in scoring, earned Second-Team All-RMAC honors, while senior guard Brevin Walter (Las Vegas, Nev./South Dakota Mines) and junior guard Armon Muldrew (Perris, Calif./San Bernardino Valley) were each named Honorable Mention All-RMAC selections.

It marks the first time since the 2017-18 season that the CSU Pueblo men's basketball team has three players earn All-RMAC honors. In addition, it marks the fifth straight season the Pack has had a Second-Team All-RMAC selection.

Morris, who earns his first All-RMAC accolade, earns his Second-Team All-RMAC selection after being second on the team in scoring at 15.3 points per game and leading the Pack in rebounding (7.0 rpg), assists (3.6 apg), steals (2.1) and double-doubles (5). He concluded the regular season sitting fifth in the RMAC in rebounding, second in steals and fifth in assists, while also being fourth in the league in field goal percentage (53.8 percent). He ended the regular season by scoring in double figures in 16 consecutive games and scored 20 or more points in a game seven times, including a career-high 30 points earlier this season at Adams State.

On the season, Morris, who was named an RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 27, led the team in made field goals (149), was second in made free throws (103) and shot 81 percent from the free throw line and 38 percent from the 3-point line. In RMAC play, he averaged 16.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.0 steals and shot 55 percent from the field, 36 percent from the 3-point line and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Morris is joined on the All-RMAC Second Team by Adams State redshirt senior guard Destan Williams, Chadron State senior guard Bryce Latimer, Chadron State senior forward Josh Robinson, Colorado Mesa junior guard Isaac Jessup, Colorado Mesa junior guard Owen Koonce, Fort Lewis junior forward Brayden Carter, Fort Lewis senior guard Junior Grabrah, South Dakota Mines junior guard Cameron Cohn and South Dakota School of Mines senior guard Alejandro Rama.

Walter earns his spot on the Honorable Mention All-RMAC Team after leading the Pack in scoring at 17.0 points per game, which was sixth-best in the RMAC. In addition, Walter also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 40 percent from the field, 39 percent from the 3-point line and led the league in free throw percentage at 89 percent. His 2.0 treys were game ranked 10th in the RMAC, while he was in the Top 10 in the league in both made free throws (105) and free throw attempts (118).

On the season, Walter, who has now earned All-RMAC honors the past three seasons as he was Second-Team selection in 2021-22 and has earned Honorable Mention honors the past two seasons, scored in double figures in 21 games, including a team-best two games of scoring 30 or points. In RMAC play, he averaged 17.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 41 percent from the field, 40 percent from the 3-point line and 89.1 percent at the free throw line.

Muldrew earned his Honorable Mention All-RMAC accolade after being third on the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game. Muldrew also averaged 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals per game and shot 45 percent from the field, 37 percent from the 3-point line and 81 percent at the free throw line. He tallied double figures in scoring in 22 games, including ending the regular season with nine consecutive double-digit scoring efforts and his 48 made treys were second-most on the team behind the 49 made by Walter. In RMAC play, Muldrew averaged 14.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and shot 46 percent from the field, 35 percent from the 3-point line and 73 percent at the free throw line.

Walter and Muldrew were joined on the Honorable Mention All-RMAC Team by Adams State's Austin Fadal, Black Hills State's Caelin Hearne, Colorado Christian's Noah Kon, Colorado Christian's Bradley Land, Colorado Mesa's Christopher Speller, Colorado School of Mines' Cade Mankle, MSU Denver's K.J. Garrett, MSU Denver's Mario Lacy, Jr., New Mexico Highlands' Kenard Richardson, New Mexico Highlands' Kyrie Thomas, Regis' Eddy Egun, South Dakota Mines' Keagan Smith, UCCS' Xavier Martinez, Western Colorado's Kade Juelfs and Westminster's Trey Wood.

Along with announcing the All-RMAC Teams, the league also named their individual award winners as Colorado Mesa junior forward Trevor Baskin was named the RMAC Player of the Year, while Colorado School of Mines' Alex Romack was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year and Colorado Mesa junior forward Mac Riniker was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year. The final award winner was Colorado Mesa's Mike DeGeorge as he repeated as the RMAC Coach of the Year after leading the Mavericks to the regular season league title and the No. 1 seed in the RMAC Tournament.

Baskin and Riniker are joined on the RMAC First-Team by Black Hills State senior forward Matthew Ragsdale, Mines' graduate student guard Sam Beskind, Mines' redshirt junior guard Majok Deng, Fort Lewis junior guard Obi Agbim, Fort Lewis senior guard Malik Whitaker, MSU Denver sophomore guard Brayden Maldonado, MSU Denver junior forward Caleb McGill and Regis sophomore guard Chase Mayo-Harmon.

CSU Pueblo, who is coached by Matt Hammer, was 12 schools to in the league to place multiple players one of the three All-RMAC Teams as regular season league champion Colorado Mesa led the way with five selections, while Fort Lewis and MSU Denver were tied for second-most with four. CSU Pueblo, Mines and South Dakota Mines each had three players selected. Adams State, Black Hills State, Colorado Christian,  New Mexico Highlands and Regis each had two selections.
The Pack finished the season with a 14-15 overall record and was seventh in the RMAC with a 10-12 record. The Pack earned their first RMAC Tournament berth since 2017 and ended their season with a 102-96 setback in the quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament on Tuesday at No. 2 seeded Fort Lewis.
