KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team had two student-athletes named to the 2024-25 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court on Thursday. The list recognizes those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.
The honored ThunderWolves' were junior guard
Sam Howery (Colorado Springs, Colo./St. Mary's) and fifth-year senior guard
Brevin Walter (Las Vegas, Nev./South Dakota Mines). Howery recorded a 4.0 cumulative GPA in Business Management, while Walter tallied a 3.473 cumulative GPA in the MBA program.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior, senior or graduate student player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
Over 2,400 players earned spots on the Honors Court this season, while 400 men's basketball programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for recording a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Howery and Walter were two of the 22 student-athletes from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference named to the 2024-25 NABC Honors Court. Western Colorado led the way with nine overall selections, while Colorado School of Mines had eight selections and UCCS had three selections.
