Women's Basketball Suffers Season Opening Defeat To Lubbock Christian

TYLER, Texas - The Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Basketball Team fell to Lubbock Christian University 72-38 in the 2024-25 season opener on  the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. 

Lubbock Christian, who has won three National Championships since 2016 under Head Coach Steve Gomez, won soundly over the Pack, picking up their third win of the season to improve to 3-0, while the ThunderWolves fall to 0-1.

Brynae Stewart (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) led the way for CSU Pueblo, putting together a solid performance, scoring 10 points, pulling down five rebounds, and picking up a block. Stewart also played the most minutes for the Pack with 31 minutes played.

Landri Hudson (Aurora, Colo./Wyoming) played the second most minutes for the ThunderWolves with 23. Hudson, who can get hot quick, had eight points, including shooting 40 percent from three.

2023 All-American Alisha Little (Aurora, Colo./Northern Colorado) had a rough opening night, as she went 2-11 from the field with just five points. Little fouled out early in the contest, playing just 19 minutes.

Grace Foster led all scorers with 18 points, while Audrey Robertson, the younger sister of LCU legends Olivia and Juliana, scored 14 points for the Lady Chaps. 

CSU Pueblo fell down early in the contest, trailing by 10 after the first quarter 21-11. Little led the Pack in quarter one with four points.

A battle-hardened LCU squad extended their lead in the second half, eventually taking a 37-19 halftime advantage.

Little was the leading scorer for the ThunderWolves at the half with five points, but had four fouls at the break.

The Lady Chaps continued to exert their dominance in the second half, wearing down the Pack, eventually winning 74-38.

The ThunderWolves are back in action tomorrow, as they look to bounce back against host school UT-Tyler at 3:15 pm.
