INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Thanks to its win on Saturday at then eighth-ranked Western Colorado this past Saturday, Colorado State University Pueblo is ranked No. 1 in this week's second edition of the NCAA Division II Super Region Four rankings that were released Monday afternoon by the NCAA.
In this week's second iteration of the Super Region Four rankings, the ThunderWolves, who are 8-1 overall and 8-0 in the region following its win at Western Colorado, are one of four teams ranked in the Top 10 this week from Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The 33-team NCAA Super Region Four consists of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and the RMAC.
The Pack are joined in this week's rankings by Western Colorado (8-1 D-II, 8-1 in-region) at No. 4, Colorado Mesa (7-2 D-II, 7-2 in-region) is at No. 9 and two-time defending NCAA Division II national runners-up Colorado School of Mines (7-2 D-II, 7-2 in-region) are at No. 10.
The top seven teams from the region will earn a spot in the 2024 NCAA Division II Playoffs with the No. 1 seed having a first round playoff bye and the opportunity to host playoff games at home at least until the national semifinal round, which is scheduled for Dec. 14.
In addition to the four teams from the RMAC, the other teams ranked in this week's edition of the NCAA Super Region Four rankings are three NSIC teams and three LSC teams. The NSIC teams ranked are Augustana (7-1 D-II, 7-1 in-region) at No. 2 and Minnesota State (7-2 D-II, 7-2 in-region) at No. 3 and Sioux Falls (6-2 D-II, 6-2 in-region) at No. 7, while the LSC teams ranked are Angelo State (7-2 D-II, 7-0 in-region) at No. 5, Central Washington (6-2 D-II, 6-2 in-region) at No. 6 and Western Oregon (6-1 D-II, 6-1 in-region) at No. 8.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the Top 7 teams in the final Super Region 4 rankings will earn a spot in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. The NCAA will announce the 2024 Division II Playoff selections on
www.NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. MT.
The NCAA Division II Playoffs will consist of 28 teams across four regions with the top seeded team in each region earning a first-round bye. The first round of the playoffs is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23. The national semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21 in McKinney, Texas. The semifinals and finals will be broadcast on one of the ESPN broadcast networks.
