PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Volleyball won their second straight match, moving into second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after sweeping Colorado Christian University on Saturday evening at Massari Arena.
With the win, the ThunderWolves improve to 12-6 overall, and 6-2 in RMAC play, while CCU falls to 11-7 overall, and 5-3 in RMAC play.
The Pack had three players on the offensive end in double-figures kills.
Ceanna O'Loughlin (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) led the way with 12 kills, while hitting .545.
Rayliene Joens (Elkhorn, Neb./Winona State) continued her electric play, recording 10 kills in 24 attacks, hitting .292.
Coming off a career-high 20 kills the night before,
Kaitlyn Hall (Colorado Springs, Colo./Falcon) back up her fine play, recording 10 kills on the night.
Hallie Hewlett (Bountiful, Utah/Bountiful) continued to play "unfreshman-like", as the Utah native led the Pack with 26 assists on the night.
Anchoring the defense for the Pack were the Arizona girls, as
Megan Mattingly (Phoenix, Ariz./Gateway), and
Braelyn Woodworth (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry) combined for 28 digs on the evening.
ABOUT THE MATCH
CSU Pueblo and Colorado Christian threw haymaker after haymaker in the first set, as the ThunderWolves pulled out a win in extras, 27-25.
CSU Pueblo won the second match soundly 25-17, led by
Golden Finch (Albuquerque, N.M./Cal State Bakersfield), Joens, and O'Loughlin, who all had four kills in the set.
The Pack won a dramatic third set, which also went to extras.
CSU Pueblo led 22-15, but a late run from the Cougars found the score at 24-24.
Kendall Schmitz (Lee's Summit, Mo./Arkansas-Fort Smith) delivered the walk-off, hitting a perfert service ace to win the match.
