Former Pack Receiver Nick Williams Signs With Denver Broncos

DENVER, Colo. – Former Colorado State University Pueblo wide receiver Nick Williams signed a rookie free agent contract on Monday afternoon with the NFL's Denver Broncos.

Williams, who played for the Pack from 2017-21 and graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2017, was signed by the Broncos after trying out for the Broncos at its rookie minicamp last month. Williams played his final collegiate football season in 2022 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

In his time playing for the Pack, Williams totaled 107 receptions for 1,428 yards and tallied nine touchdowns in 35 games over three seasons (2018, 2019 and 2021). He redshirted as a freshman in 2017 and did not play during the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic as CSU Pueblo's season was canceled. In his three seasons at CSU Pueblo, he averaged 13.3 yards per catch and scored a total of 10 touchdowns (nine receiving, one rushing).

As a sophomore in 2019, he led the Pack in receiving yards (684), receptions (43) and touchdown receptions (4) en route to earning All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Honorable Mention honors. As a redshirt junior in 2021, Williams caught 48 passes for 594 yards and had three touchdown receptions.

In his lone season at UNLV in 2022, Williams, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, recorded 28 catches for 436 yards and two touchdowns and averaged 15.5 yards per catch for the Rebels.

Played for Dave Logan at Cherry Creek High School in Aurora, Colo., and as a senior in 2017, he caught 17 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown and averaged 13.3 yards per catch. He also caught a touchdown pass as junior in 2016.

Williams is one of three players that are currently on the Broncos roster from its rookie minicamp as the other two are tight end Tommy Hudson and veteran back-up quarterback Ben DiNucci.

To make room for Williams on the 90-man offseason roster, the Broncos waived running back Damarea Crockett, who played collegiately at the University of Missouri. Crockett tore his ACL during last year's training camp. He also spent time on the Broncos' practice squad during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Williams joins a very crowded wide receiver room with the Broncos, who are coached by Sean Payton. Among the receivers under contract with the Broncos are Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Kendall Horton, Marquez Callaway, Jalen Virgil, Brandon Johnson, KJ Hamler, Montrell Washington, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, and Taylor Grimes.
