PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field program will host the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 25-27 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.

Along with the NCAA providing streaming of the finals of all the events occurring on the track, CSU Pueblo Athletics will stream the throws competition (hammer, shot put, javelin and discus) on the
RMAC network that is on the ThunderWolves' athletic website.
The CSU Pueblo men qualified four student-athletes in two different events, while the CSU Pueblo women qualified five student-athletes in five different events.

Three of the four Pack men that qualified are ranked in the Top 10 in Division II, while two of the Pack women that qualified are ranked in the Top 5 in Division II heading into the national championship meet.
Sophomore
Reece Sharman-Newell (Hampshire, England) is the No. 2 qualifier in the 800 meters with a time of 1:46.84, while junior
Justin Jenks (Helena, Mont./Helena Capital) and senior
Nate Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) are third and seventh nationally in the shot put at 18.88 meters and 18.58 respectively.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, sophomore
Helen Braybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom/Oakham School) is the No. 2 qualifier nationally in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.95 and sophomore
Katherine Higgins (Mead, Colo./Ponderosa) is seeded fifth in the shot put at 15.45 meters.
During the indoor track and field season, Braybrook and Higgins were national runners-up in the 800 meters and shot put respectively. In addition, freshman
Febe Wessels (Pretoria, South Africa) was a First-Team All-American in the shot put. On the men's side, Jenks earned a bronze medal in the shot put, while Miller was fifth in the shot put to earn All-American honors and Sharman-Newell was fourth in the 800 meters to earn All-American honors.
At the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Pack won a total of six RMAC titles and was the runner-up in seven other events. On the women's side, Braybrook captured the league title in the 800 meters, while on the men's side, Sharman-Newell was the champion in both the 800 and 1,500 meters, while Miller was the champion in the shot put and junior
Terrel Johnson (Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley) was the league champion in the decathlon and the Pack's 4-x-400-meter relay team was also the league champion.

A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in this year's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event and by being amongst the top athletes on the national performance lists in their respective events.
At last year's NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships, Pittsburg State and West Texas A&M University captured the men's and women's national titles as Pitt State scored 70 points to finish nine points in front of runner-up West Texas A&M (61 points), while Grand Valley State (64 points) was the runner-up on the women's side behind West Texas' 77 points.
The Pack women did claim one individual national champion at last year's championship meet that was hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., as
Yasmine Hernandez took home the national title in the women's 1,500-meter run with a school record time of 4:15.72.
Among the schools that are sending competitors to compete at this year's championship meet that have won the most team national titles on the men's side is Saint Augustine's with 16, while Adams State, Ashland, Grand Valley State, Pittsburg State and Texas A&M-Kingsville have each won one national title. On the women's side, Lincoln (Mo.) has won nine national team titles, while Saint Augustine's has won four national titles and Grand Valley State and West Texas A&M have each won two national titles. Academy of Art, Angelo State, Central Missouri, Pittsburg State and Azusa Pacific have each won one national title.
