GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's indoor track and field team competed this weekend at the Mines Winter Classic & Multi hosted by the Colorado School of Mines at Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
At the two-day event, the ThunderWolves competed in a total of 18 events as the men's team competed in 10 events, while the women competed in eight events.
For the event, CSU Pueblo recorded four season best performances, took home first place in three events and recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the heptathlon.
On the men's side, the Pack won two individual events as freshman
Ryan King (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo West) took home first place in the 400-meters with a time of 52.00, while sophomore
Joseph Harker (Rehoboth, N.M./Bryant & Stratton College) posted a season best time in 5,000 meter run to take home first place with a time of 15:33.21 (which is altitude adjusted to 14:49.50).
Along with Harker, the Pack finished first through sixth in the 5,000 meters as junior
Daniel Beam (Rio Rancho, N.M./Western New Mexico) was second with a time of 15:41.63, while junior
Lucas Westbrook (Loveland, Colo./Loveland) was third with a time of 15:45.12. Junior
Matthew Roberds (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) was fourth with a time of 15:50.51, junior
Ritchie Roberds (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) was fifth with a time of 15:53.98 and junior
Cole Munoz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) was sixth with a time of 16:09.91.
Freshman
Cedrick Kassi (Plano, Texas/Plano West) was third in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 14.14 meters (46'4.75"), while freshman
Keith McInnis (Denver, Colo./Denver North) was seventh with a leap of 13.48 meters (44'2.75").
Along with his third place finish in the triple jump, Kassi was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.84 meters (22'5.25").
Sophomore
Kaleb Beloy (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) was fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:26.24.
Junior
Terrel Johnson (Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley) was fourth in the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional mark of 2,828 points. Johnson was third in the high jump (1.90 meters), fourth in both the 60-meter dash (7.18) and long jump (6.72 meters) and sixth in the shot put (11.02 meters).
Junior Patrick Scroggins (Rangely, Colo./Rangely) was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:06.62.
Sophomore
Lucas Moran (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo West) was 11th in the shot put with a toss of 13.76 meters (45'1.75") and 15th in the weight throw with a toss of 14.01 meters (45'11.75").
Meanwhile, on the women's side, the top performance was turned in by redshirt freshman
Sarah Renberg (Fresno, Calif./Edison) as she recorded a time of 19:14.89 to take home first place in the 5,000 meters.
Senior
Erin Case (Parker, Colo./Loveland) was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.84, while freshman
Gabrielle Dunich (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Central) was eighth with a time of 1:05.72.
The Pack went fourth, sixth and seventh in the 800 meters as freshman
Jadyn Herron-Jonap (Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel) was fourth with a time of 2:20.79, while
Elodie Hebert (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cegep de Sherbrooke) was sixth with a time of 2:22.68 and sophomore
Taylor Holland (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo County) was seventh with a time of 2:23.01.
Mikayla Jones (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) was fourth in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 11.43 meters (37'6") and sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters (5'1").
Freshman
Mary Scroggins (Rangely, Colo./Rangely) was 15th in the pentathlon with a season best score of 2,715. She was third in the 800 meters (2:30.94), 12th in the high jump (1.50 meters), 17th in the shot put (8.19 meters) and 19th in the 60-meter hurdles (11.24),
The Pack indoor track and field teams will conclude the regular season portion of its indoor schedule next weekend (Feb. 10-11) as they travel to Pittsburg, Kan., to compete in the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University.
