Cook, Fuller, Nuschy and Rakowsky Earn CSC Academic All-District Football Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four football players from Colorado State University Pueblo have been named to the College Sports Communicators' (formally known as CoSIDA-College Sports Information Directors of America) NCAA Division II Academic All-District Team that was announced Tuesday by the organization.

Redshirt junior receiver Andrew Cook (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge), graduate student quarterback Chance Fuller (Arlington, Texas/Fort Hays State), redshirt junior linebacker Jon Nuschy (La Junta, Colo./University of Northern Colorado) and sophomore receiver Zack Rakowsky (Loveland, Colo./Loveland) were recognized for their combination of athletic and academic achievements.

In order to be eligible for selection under the new criteria for the 2023-24 school year, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher GPA. They must have also either played in 90 percent of the team's games or start at least 66 percent of the team's games. In addition, transfers are now eligible, unlike in previous years and schools were limited to a total of eight nominations.

All four of CSU Pueblo's Academic All-District selections have also been selected for advancement to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors, which will be voted on by CSC Division II membership. The Division II CSC Academic All-America Football Team will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024.

Cook earns his Academic All-District honor after carrying a 3.79 cumulative GPA in Economics. On the season, Cook was a Second-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) selection as a return specialist. He recorded seven touchdown receptions, which were second-most on the team and ranked 12th nationally in Division II in punt returns at 11.9 yards per return and also returned a punt for a touchdown. His eight total touchdowns were third-best on the team. Cook is a two-time First-Team All-Academic Football selection and is currently second among active Division II players in career punt return touchdowns (2) and third among active Division II players in career punt return average (16.4) and is sixth on the school's all-time chart for pass receptions (108), seventh in career receiving yards (1,574) and second in career receiving touchdowns (20).

Fuller earns his Academic All-District honor after carrying 3.74 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate and a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a graduate student in Sports Administration. During his only season at CSU Pueblo in 2023, Fuller earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors and was a semifinalist for the NFF William Campbell Trophy and was a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy from Super Region 4. On the season, Fuller was 282-for-384 passing for 2,910 yards and set a new single season school record with 34 touchdown passes and had seven interceptions. Ranked in the Top 10 in Division II in passing touchdowns (34), passing yards (2,910) and completions per game (22.0). He finished his career with 101 touchdown passes, 11,055 passing yards and 10,876 total offensive yards. He is one of four active D-II quarterbacks with 10,000 career passing yards, 10,000 career total offensive yards and 100 career touchdown passes. He was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection while playing at Fort Hays State and was also a two-time All-MIAA performer at Fort Hays State.

Nuschy earns his Academic All-District honor after carrying a 3.60 cumulative GPA in Business Management. On the season, Nuschy was an Honorable Mention All-RMAC selection after tying for the team lead in tackles with 84, including 44 solo stops. He had four games with double-digit tackles, including a season-high 12 tackles at South Dakota Mines. In addition, he tallied at least five tackles in all 11 games for the Pack defense. He has led the Pack in tackles the past two seasons. Nuschy is also a two-time member of the RMAC All-Academic Football Honor Roll.

Rakowsky earns his Academic All-District honor after carrying a 3.73 cumulative GPA in Health Sciences. On the season, Rakowsky was an Honorable Mention All-RMAC selection at receiver after catching a team-leading 58 passes for 769 yards and had six receiving touchdowns. His 58 receptions are second-most on the school's single-season chart, while his 769 receiving yards are seventh on the school's single-season charts. He tallied three 100-plus receiving yard games and was third in the RMAC in receptions per game (5.3) and eighth in receiving yards (769). Recorded six games with five or more receptions and had two games with 10 receptions. He also ranked 10th in the RMAC in touchdown receptions with six. Rakowsky is a two-time member of the RMAC Football Academic Honor Roll.
