Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. (October 29, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team picked up its season-long third win in a row after beating New Mexico Highlands 4-1 on Sunday in the last regular season road game for the ThunderWolves at Sanchez Family Stadium.
With the win, the Pack improves to 7-3-6 overall and 5-2-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Makenzi Roth (So., Murrieta, Calif.),
Sienna Gargano (Jr., Washington, Utah),
Katie Bean (R-Jr., Bothell, Wash.) and
Drew Morby (Sr., Washington, Utah) all scored for the ThunderWolves.
CSU Pueblo dominated the match and outshot the Cowgirls 21-3 and had 15 shots land on goal. Bean and
Ashley Bennett (So., Lakeville, Minn.) led both teams in shots with four and three, respectively.
The Pack went ahead right from the onset and got on the board in the 2' when
Jacquelyn Kosegarten (Jr., Puebla, Mexico) served in a ball ahead to Roth who was able to finish and score her first goal of the season.
Less than four minutes later, CSU Pueblo again gained possession in NMHU territory and Gargano was able to find the back of the net after taking a pass from
Cortney Cowles (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and put the ThunderWolves on top 2-0 in the 6th minute.
The first half scoring continued in the 32' when Bean was able to get behind the defense while staying on-side and the ball landed at her feet and Bean booted the ball inside the right post for the goal. It is the fourth goal of the season for Bean.
The home team was able to get on the board in the final minute of the first half after a lapse inside the ThunderWolves' box allowed the Cowgirls a wide open look at the net for the goal.
In period two, CSU Pueblo fired seven additional shots and in the 81st minute, Bennett passed the ball high above the defense and Morby was able to get a header on the ball as it went past the Cowgirls goalkeeper.

Nicole Genis (Sr., San Jose, Costa Rica) played the first half and allowed one goal and made no saves. Sharing duties in the second half,
Breanna Encinas (Firestone, Colo.) made one save in 24 minutes of action and
Jacqueline Dominguez (R-Jr., Watkins, Colo.) made one save in 21 minutes played.
CSU Pueblo will finish the regular season at home Wednesday against UCCS. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
