COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo junior
Zoey Rodriguez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo South) has been named this week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
It is the second Women's Golfer of the Week honor this season for a Pack women's golfer as senior
Kylie Severin (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) was recognized on Sept. 14 and the second career honor for Rodriguez was she honored on Oct. 13, 2022.
Rodriguez earns this week's RMAC Women's Golfer of the Week accolade after being the top finisher among RMAC competitors and tied for second overall at the CSU Pueblo Sam Proal Invitational that was held earlier this week at the Pueblo Country Club. At the event, Rodriguez shot a four-over par 148 for 36 holes to tie for second place overall. She opened with a 76 in the first round, before carding an even-par 72 in the final round. Her 72 in the final round was tied for the second lowest round at the event and she tied for first in par-4 scoring as she shot a 1-over par on the par-4 holes.
Thanks to her strong performance, the Pack was able to finish third overall as a team at the 13-team tournament that featured nine RMAC schools. At the tournament, the Pack shot a 617 as a team for the tournament to finish seven shots behind tournament champion Texas A&M-International (610) and six shots behind tournament runner-up Midwestern State, who shot a 611 for 36 holes.
Meanwhile, Colorado Christian freshman Bradley Mulder was named the RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week after he claimed medalist honors at the Centennial Cup, which was held in Westminster, Colo., earlier this week. Mulder opened the event with a 68, before firing a 71 in the second round and added a final round 68 to force a playoff for the individual title. In the playoff, he drained a birdie putt to win his first collegiate tournament.
Rodriguez and the rest of the Pack women's golfers will close out its fall schedule by competing next week (Oct. 16-17) at the Nick Turner Invitational, which is being hosted by Fort Lewis College at the Arroyo Del Oso Golf Club in Albuquerque, N.M.
