DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 17, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team dropped saw its five-game win streak snapped following a 3-0 (25-27, 22-25, 12-25) loss at No. 4 MSU Denver on Saturday at Auraria Event Center.
The Pack totaled 32 kills and recorded a season-low .110 hitting percentage.Â
Payton Van Veen finsihed with 12 kills and hit for a .321 mark to lead the team.
Sabrina King earned 19 assists along with
Grace Hern finishing with nine assists.
The ThunderWolves mustered together small rallies throughout the match but was unable to get any momentum against the tough front line of MSU Denver.
In the first set the ThunderWolves matched the Roadrunners attack and went ahead by as many as three points late in the set, 20-17, before the home team came back and the teams exchanged points until the Roadrunners were able to score back-to-back with the game knotted at 25 apiece.
The next set started out strong for the ThunderWolves before the Roadrunners put together their offense and take the lead, ending with the 25-22 set win.
The Pack struggled out of the gate to start the third set and found themselves down 10-6 before MSU Denver scored eight consecutive points to put the game out of reach.
CSU Pueblo (10-2, 3-1 RMAC) returns home next week and continues RMAC play Friday against New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. and Saturday versus Adams State at 4 p.m., both games at Massari Arena.
