Pack volleyball swat down Yellow Jackets

PUEBLO, Colo. (Sept. 10, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team took care of business and closed out its homestand with a 3-0 sweep of Black Hills State Saturday at Massari Arena.

The ThunderWolves recorded a season best .383 hitting percentage and were led by Sadie Scoville with 12 kills. The setter duo of Sabrina King (21) and Grace Hern (18) combined for 39 assists.

In the first set, the ThunderWolves started slow on offense through the first half of the set and the defense stepped up and earned a side out trailing by one at 13-12. 

CSU Pueblo went on a 7-0 rally to take a 19-13 lead. For the remainder of the period, the ThunderWolves swapped points with BHSU before closing out the set on a kill by Hern.

Durring the second set, the Pack scored three points in a row four separate times and ahead 20-14, the ThunderWolves scored four points in a row before putting the set away and go ahead 2-0 overall.

The third set, CSU Pueblo went ahead 10-4 and both teams swapped points over the next few possessions.

With the ThunderWolves still ahead by six points, the Pack went on two three-point runs and gained a double-digit lead at 22-12.

The Pack scored points mixed in with a last stitch effort from BHSU before earning the match point on Scoville's season high 12th kill of the match.

Payton Van Veen and Hannah Delor finished with ten kills.

CSU Pueblo (9-1, 2-0 RMAC) heads north next week for matches Friday at Colorado Christian and Saturday at MSU Denver.
